Assay development

PCR amplification is applied as a first step of DNA based technologies in a wide variety of fields. Every application where the subsequent analysis steps allow it, can benefit from the substantial cost and time reduction that is offered by the simultaneous amplification of several fragments in a Multiplex PCR.
Multiplicon's expertise in developing new multiplex PCRs has been recognised and evaluated by many scientists.  The scheme below gives an idea of how our customized assays are created :

  • Phase 1 : Discussion of your detailed needs
  • Phase 2 : In silico primer-design for the Multiplex PCR & discussion with customer
  • Phase 3 : Primer synthesis by oligo-producer
  • Phase 4 : Internal optimisation and QC of the assay

Phase 5 (optional) : Validation of the assay on supplied samples

The different phases described here can be executed in a matter of weeks.
Here are some typical “classics” that benefit from our assay development expertise :

  • you have discovered a new CNV (eg. via array CGH) and wish to develop an assay capable of validating it
  • you wish to analyse a (set of) CNV(s) in a large sample collection
  • you have a set of genes to screen for mutations using next-gen sequencing technology
  • you have developed a multiplex PCR, but wish to increase the complexity of the reaction
  • you are using multiplex PCRs but are looking for a faster/safer approach with more guarantees to success
